DWI Arrests: Deputy Injured After Being Hit By Drunk Driver In Hudson Valley, Sheriff Says Several people face charges after driving drunk in the Hudson Valley, including a woman who struck a sheriff deputy's vehicle, authorities said.  The arrests happened in Putnam County between Friday, April 5, and Sunday, April 7, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office announced on Monday, April 8.  The first incident occurred on Friday, April 5 around 10:45 p.m., when a sheriff's deputy's vehicle was struck by another car that crossed into his lane while traveling north on Peekskill Hollow Road in Putnam Valley. The incident took place in Yorktown around 11 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 14 in the area of 477 London Road. According to Lt. Kenneth Sgroi, of the Yorktown Police, the 28-year-old Yorktown employee was working in the area where he was struck by the vehicle. Man Dies After Being Struck By Vehicle In Northern Westchester Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash in Northern Westchester. It happened at approximately 11:15 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, on Crompond Road and Lafayette Avenue in the town of Cortlandt. When police arrrived, Peekskill Emergency Medical Services was already on scene rendering aid to the pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle and transported to Hudson Valley Hospital, state police said.  The man later identified as Edwin G. Merchan Tenemea, age 34, of Peekskill, was pronounced dead at the hospital. An initial investigation determined a 2004 Honda Accord was …

Man Killed By Falling Tree In Northern Westchester A man has died after a tree fell on him while he was working in Northern Westchester. The unidentified 61-year-old was killed around 9 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 14, on Farm Walk Road in Yorktown, police said. When officers and EMS arrived on the scene, they found the man in the backyard of the resident, unconscious not breathing after the tree fell on top of him, according to the Yorktown Police. It happened around 7:45 p.m. Thursday, May 13 in Cortlandt. According to a preliminary investigation by New York State Police, a 2020 Buick Encore, operated by Joyce M. Woman Dies After Jump From Bear Mountain Bridge A 57-year-old area woman died after parking her vehicle on the side of the roadway, walking up Bear Mountain Bridge, and jumping from the top.
