Who Has The Best Soup In Dutchess County?
- Beacon Bread Company, Beacon
- Bread Alone, Rhinebeck
- Crew, Poughkeepsie
We asked for your top picks for our DVlicious “Best Soup in Dutchess County” contest and whittled it down to three finalists. Each is being profiled this week with the winner selected Monday, Feb. 22. Here’s a “bowl-ful” rundown on one of them.
Beacon Bread Company, 193 Main St., Beacon, (845) 838-2867
Number of Soups Offered: French onion and red lentil are nearly always on the menu, but there are soups of the day like turkey chili and sweet potato-veggie.
Worth Dishing About: Though breads and pastries are the focus of this two-year-old eatery (hence the name), its soups are heavenly paired with a sandwich on a chilly winter afternoon. It is run by Co-Owners Kamel Jamel and Ralph Clemente and features a community-oriented atmosphere where lingering is encouraged, though, be warned: there is, purposefully, no Wi-Fi. Hanging in a prominent spot is Jamel’s sign, reading: “No Wi-Fi, try talking.”
