5 Hospitalized In Crash Involving Dutchess County Deputy In Hyde Park

A three-car crash in Dutchess County involving an on-duty Sheriff’s deputy sent five people to the hospital and shut down a roadway for hours, authorities said.

The collision happened around 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 14, at the intersection of Crum Elbow Road and State Route 9G in Hyde Park, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office announced on Tuesday, March 18. 

Emergency responders transported five people—including the deputy—to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. The crash also forced the closure of Crum Elbow Road for about three hours as investigators worked the scene.

No charges have been filed as of now, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office’s Detective Bureau and Crash Investigation Unit.

The Sheriff’s Office received assistance at the scene from the Hyde Park Police Department, Poughkeepsie Police Department, Hyde Park Fire Department, and Northern Dutchess Paramedics.

Authorities say more details may be released as the investigation continues.
