Newly Identified Chemical In Drinking Water Could Be Toxic, Study Says A newly discovered compound in drinking water has raised questions about its potential health risks.  The chemical, known as chloronitramide anion (Cl–N–NO₂⁻), was found in all samples from 10 US drinking water systems that use chloramines, according to a study published in the journal Science on Thursday, Nov. 21. The research, led by Julian L. Video Shows Moment Kayaker Rescued After Treading Water For Over Hour On Long Island Sound A camera was rolling the moment a stranded kayaker finally reached safety after spending over an hour treading water off Long Island. The successful rescue operation happened at around 5:45 p.m. Sunday, June 23, near Reeves Beach, located in the Riverhead hamlet of Baiting Hollow. A man called 911 saying he was unable to locate his friend who had been on a kayak west of the beach.
