1 Dead, 6 Hurt In Saratoga County Fire: What We Know An early-morning fire tore through an apartment building in Saratoga County, killing one person and injuring six others Wednesday, Dec. 4, authorities said. The fire broke out around 3:45 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 4, at 54 Broad Street in Waterford, where officers arrived on the scene and assisted with evacuating residents from the second-floor apartments, according to a press release from Public Safety Commissioner Michael J. Fire Damages Home In Region Firefighters from six Hudson Valley fire departments saved a home after an automatic fire alarm sent help to the scene. The Rockland County blaze occurred in Orangeburg, at 96 Old Orangeburg Road, on Monday, Dec. 2. Orangeburg Police Capt. Michael Shannon said the fire was initially triggered by an automatic alarm. When firefighters arrived, they found flames that had damaged two rooms of the home. Car Engulfed In Flames On Parkway In Region A vehicle fire prompted an early morning response on the Taconic State Parkway. The blaze happened on Saturday, Oct. 19 around 8:30 a.m. in Northern Westchester, when an SUV caught on fire on the southbound side in Hawthorne. Arriving fire crews soon found the vehicle consumed by flames and quickly hosed it down, putting the blaze out completely.  The response took around an hour and sent plumes of smoke up into the air on the parkway, as seen in images of the fire released on the Hawthorne Fire Department's social media page.  No injuries were reported.

Beloved Firefighter Dies After Over 25 Years Of Service In Hudson Valley A Hudson Valley fire department is mourning the loss of one of its active members who served his community for more than a quarter of a century.  The death of Robert "Link" Linkenhoker was announced by Putnam County's Brewster Fire Department on Wednesday, Oct. 16. Car Bursts Into Flames, Shuts Down I-84 Stretch In Region A stretch of Interstate 84 in the Hudson Valley was temporarily closed to traffic after a car went up in flames on the shoulder.  The blaze happened in Putnam County on Saturday evening, Sept. 21, when a vehicle caught on fire on Interstate 84 West in Brewster, according to the village's fire department. Driver Injured In 2-Car Crash In Front Of Historic Manor In Region A two-car crash in front of a historic Northern Westchester manor-turned-museum caused injuries, firefighters said.  The incident happened in Croton-on-Hudson on Saturday, Sept. 7 at around 7:20 p.m., when two vehicles collided in front of Van Cortlandt Manor on South Riverside Avenue, according to the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department.  Arriving fire crews dealt with a fluid spill from one of the cars while EMS treated a driver injured in the crash.  Both vehicles were later towed away, the department said. The cause of the crash was not released.

Residents Evaluated After Bathroom Blaze Fills Hudson Valley Home With Smoke Residents were evaluated for smoke exposure following a bathroom fire in their Hudson Valley home.  The blaze happened in Putnam County on Wednesday, July 31 just before 6 a.m., when an oil burner malfunction was reported at a Mahopac home on Mountain View Drive.  According to the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department, arriving crews found smoke filling the residence and soon determined an oil burner did not cause the blaze but began in a bathroom wastebasket.  The blaze had already gone out by the time crews arrived and damaged the bathroom tile wall, the department added.
