A 56-year-old Hudson Valley man was caught with controlled narcotics and an illegally possessed weapon following an investigation into threatening messages, police said. Putnam County resident Kevin Willis of Southeast was arrested on Friday, Oct. 18 around 3:45 p.m. after he was found with narcotics and a firearm he was prohibited from having, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office announced on Wednesday, Oct. 23. Man From Region, 2 Juveniles Nabbed For Hate Crimes, Police Say
A 19-year-old Hudson Valley man and two juveniles were nabbed for allegedly shooting gel pellets and shouting anti-Semitic remarks at two women. The incident occurred in Rockland County at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10, on Lawler Boulevard in Spring Valley. According to Spring Valley Police Det. Sgt. Rony Charles, the two women were walking on Lawler Boulevard when a vehicle drove by and shot an unknown type of projectile at them, striking one. A Hudson Valley man has been charged with a hate crime after allegedly posting an anti-semitic banner at a synagogue. Ulster County resident Caleb H. Rochester, age 55, of Kingston, was arrested on Thursday, May 16, for the Monday, March 25 incident at Temple Emanuel Synagogue in Kingston. According to Capt. Joseph Sciutto of the Ulster County Sheriff's Office, congregants discovered a banner with anti-semitic language and artwork adhered to the exterior of the synagogue. Five Hudson Valley teens have been charged with hate crimes for allegedly yelling anti-Semitic slurs and shooting a pellet gun at individuals. The incidents occurred in Rockland County in Ramapo on two dates in April. According to Det. Sgt. An accused rapist and animal abuser from upstate New York is now charged with choking the Long Island mother of his infant son while holding the child. Suffolk County prosecutors slapped Saratoga County resident Preston Wido, age 37, of Clifton Park, with multiple felony and misdemeanor domestic violence charges on Wednesday, April 24. A man from the region is behind bars without bail following an investigation for sharing intimate images of a victim. Ulster County resident Joshua Sickler, age 44, of Port Ewen, was charged on Tuesday, Oct. 3 by New York State Police, said Trooper AJ Hicks.
