A Long Island restaurateur who shot and killed his girlfriend inside her penthouse apartment over an impending breakup is facing decades behind bars. Mark Small, 57, of Elmont, was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison in Nassau County Court on Thursday, Dec. 12, after being convicted of murdering 39-year-old Marivel Estevez. Long Island Man Accused Of Assaulting Police Medic
A man was arrested on Long Island after allegedly assaulting a police medic, according to authorities. The incident occurred just before 5:40 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 29, in Plandome Manor. Nassau County Police said Nicholas Vulpis, age 53, a resident of Plandome Manor, was being evaluated at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset when he became violent and struck one of the NCPD medics in the leg, causing swelling, bruising, and substantial pain. A man was sentenced to 40 years to life in prison for murdering his ex-fiancée in an underground parking garage on Long Island. The shooting occurred on March 31, 2022, in the New Hyde Park garage of the medical facility where the victim worked. Quay Sean Hines, age 33, of Bay Shore, was convicted in September of second-degree murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the fatal shooting of 33-year-old Amelia Laguerre.
