Man Took 5-Year-Old To VA, Upstate NY For Sex: Usdoj A 54-year-old Pennsylvania man has been sentenced after admitting to taking a 5-year-old girl for sex in Virginia and New York, the US Department of Justice announced on Wednesday, Sept. 25.  John Oathout, of Harrisburg, PA, was sentenced by Chief United States District Judge Brenda K. Sannes in Syracuse, NY on Friday, Sept. 20. Both occurred upstate on Wednesday, July 24, and they come after 10 twisters hit central and northern New York last week. In Oswego County, the first tornado on Wednesday touched down just before 3:30 p.m. in the town of Orwell, about 40 miles north of Syracuse. It left a short, coherent path of broken tree limbs extended down an east-west path and had peak winds of 85 miles per hour, ranking it as an EF-0 tornado, the weakest of six levels on the Enhanced Fujita Scale, according to the National Weather Service. Tornado Touched Down In NY During Round Of Severe Storms: Here's When, Where A tornado touched down in New York State during a round of severe storms, the National Weather Service has announced following a survey of the damage. The tornado hit the village of West Winfield in southern Herkimer County late Saturday morning, June 22. It's about 60 miles east of Syracuse and 85 miles west of Albany. 3 Employees Severely Burned In Explosion At Capital Region Hydro Plant Three employees are hospitalized following an explosion at a hydroelectric plant in the region. Emergency crews in Rensselaer County were called at around 8:20 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, for an explosion at the Mount Ida Hydroelectric plant in Troy, located along Poesten Kill creek near Congress and Cypress streets. Troy Fire Chief Richard Cellucci said the city was working with National Grid to shut off power at the station when three men were hit by "a large electrical arc."
