Drunk Driver Caught With 4-Year-Old Child In Truck In NY, Police Say
A Westchester man is accused of driving drunk in Putnam County with a young child in the vehicle, police said.
The incident happened around 8:45 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 10, when a trooper stopped a Ford F-350 on Main Street in Brewster for multiple traffic violations, New York State Police announced on Monday, Aug. 11.
Police said the driver, 36-year-old Erasmo Garcia of Valhalla, showed signs of intoxication and failed standardized field sobriety tests. A 4-year-old child was in the truck at the time, authorities added.

Nearly a year after a wife and mother was killed in a head-on, drunk driving crash in the Capital Region, the man responsible is heading to prison.
Matthew Monthie, 29, of Clifton Park, was sentenced to three to 10 years behind bars in Albany County Court on Tuesday, March 4, following his conviction for manslaughter and related charges in the death of Shawna Marzhal.
Monthie was driving westbound on Route 85 in Bethlehem when he crossed over the center line and struck the 53-year-old Marzahl in the eastbound lane early on May 1, 2024, according to prosecutors.
