Woman Killed By Cops After Pointing Black Handgun At Them In Hudson Valley: Nysp

A woman was shot and killed by New York State Police after pointing what looked like a handgun at troopers responding to a domestic incident in Orange County, authorities said.

The shooting occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, at a home on Forrest Drive in the town of Deerpark, according to a release from the New York State Police Greenville barracks.

When troopers arrived, they found a male victim on the front porch who told them a woman inside was armed with a knife and a gun. Shortly after, the woman exited the house and pointed a black handgun at the troopers, police said.

“In response to the immediate threat, two troopers discharged their duty weapons, striking the suspect,” state police said.

Troopers immediately gave medical aid and called for EMS. The woman was taken to Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, where she was pronounced dead.

The male victim had non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at the scene. No troopers were hurt.
