Woman Killed, Driver Arrested For Impairment Following Crash: Suffolk Police A crash claimed the life of a 69-year-old woman in Dix Hills on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 8, Suffolk County police announced. Angela Sarant, of Dix Hills, was struck while walking on Vanderbilt Parkway at Village Hill Drive at approximately 3:07 p.m., investigators said. She was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, where she was pronounced dead. The driver, Kenneth Stewart, 64, of Huntington Station, was behind the wheel of a 2021 Honda Civic traveling westbound when the collision occurred, according to police. He was not injured. Teenage Bicyclist Seriously Injured In Suffolk County Crash: Police A teenage bicyclist was seriously injured in a motor vehicle crash in Brightwaters, Suffolk County police announced on Saturday, Dec. 7. The 14-year-old was riding westbound on Howells Road near Manatuck Boulevard when he attempted to cross the street and was struck by a westbound 2011 Honda CRV at 10:25 a.m., according to police. The vehicle, driven by 36-year-old Nube Cajamarca of Bay Shore, remained on the scene. Cajamarca was not injured, police said. Fatal Crash: 31-Year-Old ID'd As Victim On East Patchogue Roadway A 31-year-old was killed in a crash on Long Island. The incident happened in East Patchogue, on Americus Avenue south of Brookhaven Avenue, at around 8 p.m. Thursday, July 18. Suffolk County Police said the man, Noe Moran Contreras, of East Patchogue, was operating a dirt bike when he lost control and struck a pole. He was taken by ambulance to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue where he was pronounced dead. Investigators impounded the bike for a safety check.
