Routine Traffic Stop Lands 5 Capital Region Teens In Handcuffs; No Room Left In Juvenile Jail
Police arrested five boys — the youngest being 15 — after they found illegal pistols during a routine traffic stop on Wednesday, Aug. 8, in Rensselaer County, authortiies said. The teens — ages 15 to 17 — were stopped near the Griswold Heights Apartments in Troy as officers have upped their presenece there following recent violence, Troy police said. A United State Army sergeant from the Hudson Valley who has been indicted in the murder of an area man was due to be deployed overseas Orange County resident Junando Dawkins, age 29, of Newburgh was apprehended at the US Army base in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, said the Ulster County District Attorney's Office.
