With the recent expansion of eligibility for the COVID-19 vaccine in Connecticut and around the country, at least one university in the state is requiring all students to receive a vaccine prior to returning to campus for the fall semester. Wesleyan University in Middletown announced this week that the decision was made to allow for all to return to "residential life and the close-knit, stimulating campus environment so meaningful to all of us." 55 Families File Class Action Lawsuit To Repeal NY's Religious Exemption Ban On Vaccines
Fifty-five families are suing the state in Supreme Court challenging a new law that repeals the religious exemption for vaccinations. Attorneys Michael H. Sussman and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., filed the suit on Wednesday, July 10, stating the plaintiffs, held lawful religious exemptions, and requested that the court repeal the measure. the suit said. County Exec At Heart Of Measles Outbreak Hails Law Ending Religious Exemptions For Vaccines
Elected officials from across New York state, including Rockland County -- the epicenter of a measles outbreak -- hailed a new state law that bans non-medical exemptions from vaccinations. "This is a great step forward in protecting the public health here in New York," said Rockland County Executive Ed Day.
