ID Released For 20-Year-Old Fatally Struck By Jeep On Suffolk County Highway The identity has been released of a 20-year-old who was fatally struck by a Jeep on a Long Island highway. The man was in the lanes of travel on eastbound Sunrise Highway (Route 27) in Sayville, east of exit 49, when he was struck by a 2006 Jeep Liberty at about 2:40 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 19, the Suffolk County Police said. The victim, now identified as Matthew Wenk, of Islip Terrace was pronounced dead at the scene.  The Farmingville man who was driving the Jeep, also age 20, was not injured in the crash, police said. ID Released For Man Killed When Minivan Crashes Into Pole On Long Island Expressway The identity of a man who was killed in a crash on the Long Island Expressway earlier this week has been released. The crash happened on Monday, May 11 just before 11:15 p.m. on the eastbound expressway, between exits 48 and 49 in Melville. The man was driving a 2016 Chrysler Town and Country when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a pole, Suffolk County Police said. The man, now identified as Chester Szarejko, 93, of Queens, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Suffolk County Medical Examiner's office.
