Freeport’s Patrick Day, 27, remained in a coma early on Sunday, Oct. 14, after he had to undergo emergency brain surgery after being knocked out by Charles Conwell in a fight the night earlier.

Day was knocked down twice in the fourth and eighth rounds before taking a left hook early in the 10th round that knocked him out cold. He was treated by a doctor in the ring before being rushed off on a stretcher to an area hospital.

According to reports, Day suffered a seizure en route to the hospital and he had to be given a breathing tube in the emergency room before he went into a coma.

There has been no official update on Day’s condition, though his manager Lou DiBella took to social media to ask for the public’s support.

“Patrick Day suffered a traumatic brain injury during his bout on Saturday night,” Di Bella, said in a statement on Sunday night.

"He was rushed to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. As of Sunday evening, Patrick is in a coma caused by the injury and is in extremely critical condition. On behalf of Patrick's team, we appreciate the outpouring of support, prayers, and offers of assistance from all corners of the boxing community.”

"Pat Day makes any room he is in a better place. Never saw him greet someone without a big smile," DiBella wrote on Twitter. "Life doesn't seem fair sometimes. Please keep Pat in your prayers, thoughts, and hearts."

Conwell also asked the public to keep Day in their prayers. In a message on Twitter, Conwell wrote: “Praying for you,” and “Keep fighting!”
