A 64-year-old man was killed after being struck by a vehicle overnight on Long Island.
The incident happened on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 12:05 a.m. in Mineola, Nassau County Police said.
The man was riding his bicycle southbound on Mineola Boulevard at Washington Avenue when he was struck by an unknown southbound vehicle, police said.
The victim suffered a serious head injury and was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased by a staff physician.
It's unclear if the motorist fled the scene or was unaware of the crash.
The identity of the victim is being withheld pending family notification. The investigation is ongoing.
