A new breakdown of cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) by municipalities in Westchester has been released. The latest update was released by County Executive George Latimer in a news briefing on Thursday, April 2. (See video above.) There have now been 67 deaths related to the virus in the county. A total of 568 have been hospitalized, with 344 currently hospitalized, and 301 hospitalized in Westchester. A 31-year-old man has been sentenced after admitting to kidnapping, attempted murder, and other charges after abducting his girlfriend, driving her to Westchester and threatening to kill himself before he assaulted her. A brand-new supermarket will be holding its grand opening in Northern Westchester this week. Green Way Markets will be open for business on Friday, Oct. 11 at the Orchard Square Shopping Center at the intersection of routes 35 and 121 North in the hamlet of Cross River in Lewisboro. ID Released For Westchester Woman Killed In Saw Mill Parkway Crash
A woman killed in a two-vehicle crash on the Saw Mill Parkway early Sunday, July 21, has been identified as a 29-year-old Westchester resident. Daniella Gore-Johnson of Yonkers was killed around 12:18 a.m., during a collision on the southbound Saw Mill River Parkway in Hastings-on-Hudson, said Kieran O'Leary, spokesman for the Westchester County Police. A preliminary investigation indicates that a 2012 Honda Accord was struck in the rear by a 2017 Lexus RC 350 sedan. The collision sent the Honda off the roadway, causing it to strike a tree. Missing Teacher From Northern Westchester Found Dead
The Westchester teacher who was reported missing by his family last week was found dead near the Kensico Reservoir over the weekend. The body of Jorge Crespo, a Yorktown resident who taught art at Yonkers Middle School, was found on property owned by the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). No other information regarding his death was provided by investigators. A new report from Safewise.com named nearly two dozen Hudson Valley municipalities among the 50 "safest cities" in New York. Based on the latest FBI report, the state boasts a property crime rate 40 percent less than the national average, the site said. Fight Involving 30 Students Breaks Out At School In Westchester
A large fight involving more than 30 students at a Westchester school ended with four arrests. The fight broke out around 11:40 p.m. Wednesday on the campus of the Graham School at 1 South Broadway, in Hastings-on-Hudson, near the Odel Cottage, according to Hastings-on-Hudson Police Lt. David Dosin. Officers responded to the school, which was placed on lockdown, along with officers from the Yonkers Police Department and Westchester County. Alert Issued For Missing Westchester Teen
Officials from the Missing Persons Clearinghouse are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a teenage runaway who was last seen in Westchester nearly a year ago. An alert was issued by the organization regarding 17-year-old Ivanna Espinosa, who was reported missing on April 27 last year in Hastings-on-Hudson. Officials said that she may be traveling with a male companion and could potentially be in Queens or Brooklyn.
