Wayne MacDonald Ross, 58, Wanaque Resident

WANAQUE, N.J. -- Wanaque resident Wayne MacDonald Ross died Saturday, Jan. 2. He was 58.

Ross spent 30 years in the paint industry -- 15 years of them as a territory representative for Benjamin Moore & Co. Ross also was an avid boater and motorcycle enthusiast and was a huge fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He was an active member and ordained elder of Community Presbyterian Church in Ringwood for the past 18 years. His volunteerism with the church included the Carpenter's Club and the 1st Wednesday Night Men's Dinner Group. Wayne also worked closely with the church's mission group, including rebuilding homes in New Orleans, following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Janet Carafa Ross; children Katharine and Michael; sister Martha Ross Mockaitis and her husband Thomas Mockaitis; brother Matthew Ross; sister-in-law Donna Carafa Borra; and several nieces and nephews. 

He was predeceased by his parents Wayne Hathaway Ross and Grace MacDonald Ross. 

Visiting hours will be from 5-9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, at Oakland Memorial Home, 330 Ramapo Valley Road, Oakland. A service to celebrate his life will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10 at the Community Presbyterian Church, 145 Carletondale Road, Ringwood.
