The Vreeland Store, 1383 Macopin Road, West Milford, N.J. (973) 874-0860
The Fine Grind: The historic 1861 building started out as a post office and a general store where local folks could mail a letter, buy a suit, and pick up a sack of grain at the same time. Vreeland -- now a rustic café, tavern, inn, and entertainment venue – gives patrons a place to get their daily caffeine fixes (or a stiff drink), and a bite of homey food. All of its beans come from Stumptown Coffee Roasters in Red Hook, Brooklyn, and are both organic and Fair Trade.
Most Popular Brew: For the kids, it’s the homemade hot chocolate, but for grown-ups, the “Coco Chai Mate Latte,” made with steamed coconut milk and chai and mate teas, hits the spot.
