Man Arrested For Deadly Stabbing In South Jersey Alley, Police Say A Millville man was accused of stabbing another man to death in downtown Bridgeton, authorities said. Cornell Becton, 37, was arrested on unrelated charges at around 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11, the Bridgeton Police Department said in a news release on Monday, Oct. 14. He was also given charges in the killing of 59-year-old Wilbert Pace, which happened that morning. Man Found With Stab Wounds Dies In Downtown Bridgeton, Police Say A Bridgeton man was found dead from a stabbing early in the morning, authorities said. Wilbert Pace, 59, died on Friday, Oct. 11, the Bridgeton Police Department said in a news release. Officers responded to East Commerce Street between Laurel Street and Mayor Aitken Drive at around 3:30 a.m. Police found Pace suffering from several stab wounds behind a downtown building. The crash in Bridgeton left a 10-year-old girl in critical condition, they said. Sierra A. Thomas, of Bridgeport, was charged Thursday, May 11 with knowingly leaving a motor vehicle accident that resulted in serious injury and endangering an injured victim, police said. South Jersey Girl, 10, Critical After Hit-Run Crash A 10-year-old girl from Bridgeton is in critical condition after being struck by a hit-and-run driver, authorities said. The girl was crossing East Broad Street near a Wawa in Bridgeton at 7:07 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, Bridgeton police said.  She was struck by a white SUV, pictured above, that fled. The girl was airlifted to Cooper University Hospital. The SUV went north on Bank Street Extension heading toward East Commerce Street, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
