North Bergen Man, 26, Stomps On Victim's Head In Brutal Guttenberg Assault, Police Say A 26-year-old North Bergen resident was arrested in Guttenberg after an assault and a foot pursuit on Thursday, Aug. 8, authorities said. At 12:41 p.m., officers responded to Bergenline Avenue and 70th Street upon a report of a fight, Guttenberg police said. Officers found a man who had sustained injuries to his head and face and noticed another man, Jazzy Vasquez, walk away from the scene, police said. Witnesses identified Vasquez as the assailant and police ordered him to stop. Vasquez fled on foot but after a brief pursuit, was apprehended, police said.  Police obtained video foota…

Firefighter Injured In Rutgers Barn Blaze A firefighter was injured battling a fire in a storage barn at Rutgers University in North Brunswick, authorities said. The fire broke out at about 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 11 at the Horticultural Farm property at Rutgers Gardens, according to a university spokeswoman. The building was unoccupied at the time, she said. The fire was contained to the barn with assistance from local fire departments.  One firefighter received treatment at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, the spokeswoman said.
