Warrant Squad detectives were in the area of Butler and May streets around 4 a.m. when they approached the double-parked Ford Explorer and smelled raw marijuana inside, Passaic County Sheriff Richard H. Berdnik said.
They ordered Danny Rosado, 45, of Paterson out of the vehicle -- and immediately spotted two baggies, one filled with pot and the other cocaine, he said.
Searching the rest of the vehicle, they found a Raven .25-caliber handgun on the rear floor, along with empty zip-locking baggies, the sheriff said.
The detectives took Rosado into custody and seized the weapon, drugs and $536 in suspected drug proceeds, he said.
Rosado remained held without bail in the Passaic County Jail on Thursday pending a detention hearing on drug and weapons charges that include being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
