Attempted luring incident reported by Cliffside Park girl, 15

ANOTHER CLIFFVIEW PILOT SCOOP: A 15-year-old girl told Cliffside Park police a man tried to lure her into his car last week, pushing the total number of such reported incidents across Bergen County and parts of Passaic County near two dozen.

The girl told police she was walking home from Cliffside Park High School on Palisade Avenue just after 3 o’clock Thursday when a man sitting in a green, medium-sized SUV called out to her.

“She wasn’t sure exactly what he said,” Detective Capt. Michael Russo told CLIFFVIEW PILOT. “But she said he was trying to get her to come over.”

The girl said she ignored him and kept walking, then heard the vehicle start up.

It passed her moments later, she told police.

She decribed the driver as light-skinned, Hispanic, with shoulder-lengthh black, wavy hair. He was wearing a black coat or jacket, she said. With her help, Detective Sgt. Ken Porrino of the Fort Lee Police Department prepared the sketch above.

No youngster should take chances under any circumstances, Russo said, but, if possible, those who can should try and snap a cellphone shot while walking away.

“It would help in these investigations,” the captain said. “Just don’t put yourself in danger.”
