: Port Authority PD Saves OD Victim At GWB Bus Station
Port Authority Police Officer Kyle Chmura knows an overdose when he sees one. Responding to a call of a man down in a third-floor bathroom stall at the George Washington Bridge bus station in Washington Heights, Chmura immediately began a sternum rub in an attempt to revive the 50-year-old victim. Chmura and backup Officer Chris Figueroa then gave the man oxygen and two blasts of Narcan that eventually brought him around, Port Authority spokeswoman Lenis Valens said. Flames Blow Through Windows Of Garfield Multi-Family Home
Flames shot out the second-floor windows and into the eaves of a Garfield multi-family home on Sunday. Firefighters needed a little over 20 minutes to knock down the bulk of the Harrison Avenue blaze after it broke out around 2:15 p.m. The two-alarm fire displaced a couple of families whose members all got out OK, responders said. EMS treated a firefighter for a minor injury at the scene. Man Struck, Killed By Hoboken Bound Train In Newark
A man was struck and killed by an NJ Transit train in Newark Tuesday morning, authorities said. Service to the Morris and Essex line was operating on a 30-minute delay in both directions after the 7:45 a.m. incident west of the Broad Street Station, NJT spokeswoman Lisa Torbic said. The train left Montclair State University at 7:10 a.m., and was scheduled to arrive in Hoboken at 8 a.m., Torbic said. New Jersey Transit Police and EMS were on scene. None of the approximately 20 passengers and crew were on board were injured. The NJTPD is leading the investigation.

Car Rolls, Topples Utility Pole On Route 17
A car careened off Route 17, rolled and toppled a utility pole Monday night. No serious injuries were reported in the crash on the southbound highway near Franklin Turnpike in Ridgewood around 7:30 p.m. Ridgewood firefighters freed an occupant from the vehicle, which landed on its side on the shoulder. Falling Tree Kills Pickup Driver On Route 517
A driver was killed after a tree fell on his pickup truck on Route 517 in Tewksbury Saturday, authorities said. The man was heading northbound on Route 517 when a tree fell on his 2008 Toyota Tacoma near mile marker 2.6 just after 3 p.m., Chief Timothy Barlow said. EMS crews from nearby districts responded to help extricate the driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Route 517 was closed for about 90 minutes but has since been reopened, authorities said. Driver Hospitalized After Sedan Slams Into Utility Pole In Hackensack
A driver was hospitalized after a sedan bounced off a parked car and slammed into a utility pole Friday afternoon in Hackensack. The southbound Audi cracked the pole in front of Tips N More on Main Street shortly after 2 p.m. The driver had to be placed in a neck brace before being taken to Hackensack University Medical Center. City police and firefighters and Hackensack Meridian Health EMS responded.

A driver was hospitalized with serious injuries after a Saturday afternoon crash in Fair Lawn. The driver of a sedan was extricated before being transported after an SUV slammed into the car at the intersection of Broadway and Plaza Road around 1 p.m. The other driver refused medical attention. : Port Authority Police Rescue Man Who Fell Onto World Trade Center Subway Tracks
Port Authority Police Sgt. Christopher Mathus was on patrol at the World Trade Center Oculus Thursday morning when someone told him a man had fallen onto nearby subway tracks. Mathus rushed to the tracks of the downtown R and W trains at the Cortlandt Street Station, where he was joined by Officers Evan Butt and Eric Seborowski, Port Authority spokeswoman Lenis Rodrigues said. Within two minutes, they'd lifted the face-down, incoherent victim off the tracks to safety, she said. : Port Authority Team Rescues Seizure Victim At Lincoln Tunnel
A worker had suddenly went into cardiac arrest on the roof of the Port Authority administration building at the Lincoln Tunnel when several heroes rushed to his rescue. Senior Tunnel and Bridge Agent Keith O'Halloran and Tunnel and Bridge Agent David Brierty found him not breathing, with no pulse early Saturday. Three Port Authority police officers quickly joined in. The rescuers began CPR, then gave him two shocks from a defibrillator. Soon, he began breathing and regained a pulse. A small SUV plowed into an Old Tappan mixed-use building on Friday. The older-model Hyundai continued through a handicapped parking space, mounted a small curb and hit the façade of the Old Tappan Road building between two columns at the entrance. Both Bergen County residents with presumed cases of coronavirus visited the same commercial health care facility before they were admitted to the hospital for treatment and testing of coronavirus, county officials said Friday.
