Lakewood Woman, 58, Hospitalized With Serious Burns In Six-Story Apartment Fire
A Lakewood woman suffered serious burns over most of her body during an apartment building fire early Wednesday, authorities said. The general alarm fire broke out in the six-story multi-family brick Peter Ward Apartment building at 100 Woehr Ave. just before 2 a.m., according to reports. Two victims were found inside a second-floor apartment including a 58-year-old woman with second- and third-degree burns on 80% of her body, according to an initial unconfirmed report. Lakewood Rescuers Free Construction Worker Who Fell 15 Feet
Rescuers freed a worker who fell 15 feet at a Lakewood construction site Friday morning, authorities said. Rescuers who responded to the 8 a.m. call at the site off Attaya Road used a Stokes basket to secure and left the worker out, Lakewood Fire Chief Mike D'Elia Jr. said. A chopper flew the worker to Jersey Shore Medical Center for treatment of what Lakewood EMS Chief Crystal Van de Zilver said was a possible broken leg and other injuries that weren't considered life-threatening.
