Car Plunges Into North Branch Raritan River (Photos) Emergency crews in Somerset County quickly responded after a car plunged into the North Branch Raritan River Tuesday night, August 1. The Far Hills-Bedminster Fire Department arrived with several water rescue technicians and found the occupants safely out of the vehicle. Members worked alongside the towing company as the vehicle was removed from the water. Somerset County Haz Mat also assisted. Scroll down to view additional photos from the scene. Tractor-Trailer, Vehicle Towing Boat Crash On Route 78 A tractor-trailer collided with a vehicle towing a boat on Route 78 in Somerset County, authorities said. Emergency crews responded to the crash scene in the eastbound lanes on Wednesday afternoon, the Far Hills-Bedminster Fire Department said. The department stayed on site until the towing company finished cleaning the vehicle involved, authorities said. The cause of the crash was not immediately clear.
