Body Found Near Shoreline At State Park Along Jersey Shore:

A person was found dead near the shoreline of Barnegat Lighthouse State Park, officials said. State park police were dispatched to the area at around 1:50 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 15, a state Department of Environmental Protection spokesperson said. The person's body was discovered off the western shore of the High Bar Harbor section in Long Beach Island Township. The body was sent to the Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office. An autopsy will be performed to identify the person and the cause of death. Barnegat Lighthouse was first illuminated in 1859, NJDEP also said.

Historic Lighthouse Shined-Up In Months-Long Restoration On Jersey Shore
]Barnegat Lighthouse will close to visitors for the next seven months as the Department of Environmental Protection begins a $1.3 million restoration of the historic lighthouse, New Jersey officials said. The lighthouse closes for construction on Monday, March 14, according to DEP Commissioner Shawn M. LaTourette. More than a dozen New Jersey state parks and forests were closed to visitors for cleanup from Tropical Storm Isaias as of Friday evening. Many of them will remain closed for several days, according to a Facebook post being updated daily by the NJ Parks Department.
