A serious crash shut down both directions of a road in Monmouth County for several hours, officials said. Howell Township police said Route 33 was closed between Yellow Brook Road and Route 34 on Tuesday, Apr. 2 for a "serious crash investigation," the department said in a Facebook post. The state Department of Transportation said it was reported at around 10:45 a.m. Both directions of Route 33 near the intersection with Colts Neck Road remained closed as of 2 p.m. Howell police also asked drivers to avoid the area.

A 69-year-old driver from Somers Point was injured after his car rear-ended a box truck in Camden County, authorities said. The crash occurred at about 12:15 p.m. on Monday, March 18 on Route 73 northbound near Davis Avenue in Winslow Township, Winslow police said. Ronald Kollman, the car's driver, was taken to Cooper University Hospital for treatment, police said. Police did not say how seriously Kollman was hurt. No other injuries were reported.

A tractor-trailer crashed on the New Jersey Turnpike near Interstate 195 in Mercer County, authorities said. The crash occurred at about 11 a.m. on Monday, March 11 on the outer roadway southbound near Interchange 7A in Robbinsville, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation. The driver of the Peterbilt tractor-trailer lost directional control, running off the roadway right and into an embankment, according to New Jersey State Police. An important bridge for many Monmouth County drivers will be closed for several months due to repairs, officials said. The state Department of Transportation (NJDOT) said the Route 71 drawbridge over the Shark River had a mechanical failure on Friday, Mar. 1 that caused "significant damage to the machinery of the North Bridge leaf." Structural evaluation and drawbridge engineering teams said the bridge is safe for vehicles traveling between Belmar and Avon-by-the-Sea.
