Tips Arise With Release Of Dulce Maria Alavez' Photos, South Jersey Authorities Say
Cumberland County authorities have received about a dozen new tips on the 2019 disappearance of Dulce Maria Alavez from a Bridgeton playground, they said after the release of her photos last week. "Yes. Investigators are following up as we speak," Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae said on Tuesday, Sept. 19. Her office received six new tips, she said. Dulce Maria Alavez would be nine years old. She was just five when she went missing on Sept. 16, 2019, while at a Cumberland County playground with her younger brother, Manny. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children released a new "progressive sketch" that shows what Dulce Maria would look like today. A vigil will be held Saturday, Sept. 16 at 4:30 p.m. at Bridgeton City Park's Dulce tree —dedicated to the missing child near the playground where she was last seen. HIM? Police Seek Suspect In Fatal South Jersey Shooting
Bridgeton Police and Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of a 36-year-old Bridgeton man early Saturday morning at the Maple Gardens Apartment complex off of South East Avenue. As a result of that investigation, criminal warrants have been issued for Ryan A. Askins, 29, last known address of Fayette Street in the city, for murder and weapons offenses, and Desmond L. Child Wounded In South Jersey Shooting: Report
An 11-year-old boy was wounded in a South Jersey shooting, NJ Advance Media reported. The boy was shot in both legs after walking outside of a Falcon Street home in Bridgeton to investigate a disturbance around 2 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, the article says citing local police. Authorities are hoping to speak with the father of Dulce Alavez, who was abducted from a South Jersey park in 2019 and been missing ever since, NJ.com reports. A man who identified himself in the YouTube video Edgar Perez, Dulce's father, posted the tribute online in honor of her 7th birthday.
