A fire sparked by an electrical failure severely damaged an Ocean County home Friday night, Nov. 29, leaving the house uninhabitable, police said. Officers responded to 137A Hudson Parkway in Manchester Township around 9:23 p.m., after receiving reports of an active structure fire, police said. A family of two people were without a home and two of their cats died in a house fire in Toms River, authorities said. Firefighters responded to the home on South Gateway at around 9:05 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 1, the Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention said in a news release. An Atlantic City police officer was praised for rescuing a teen and four pets from a house fire, authorities said.
