A 26-year-old South Amboy man was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Tuesday, Dec. 10 for selling fentanyl that led to a fatal overdose in Raritan Township in 2022, authorities said. On Halloween night 2022, Cayla Dunham, a 21-year-old West Virginia resident and her boyfriend purchased what they thought was cocaine from Leonard Contreras in Raritan Township, Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée Robeson said. A man was attacked by a beaver while fishing in Raritan Township on Thursday, Nov. 7, authorities said. A 54-year-old Flemington man said he was fishing in the South Branch Raritan River when he noticed a beaver swimming nearby, Raritan Township police said. The man lost sight of the beaver only for the beaver to resurface and attack the victim, biting him on both legs, police said. A former councilman in Flemington was sentenced to four years in prison on Friday, Sept. 20 after pleading guilty to distributing cocaine, authorities said. Malik Johnston a.k.a. Pippin Folk has faced numerous legal problems. In April, Johnston, 47, was indicted for theft for stealing $1,000 from the Flemington Democratic Club's bank account at a branch in Bridgewater, Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée Robeson said.
