A 34-year-old man has been charged with violating a restraining order and killing his grandmother in Middlesex County, authorities said. Raymond Maldonado, of Perth Amboy, has been charged with murder in connection with the death of Awilda Verrette, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone said. First responders rescued a watercraft from the Delaware River in Burlington County on Sunday evening, June 30, authorities said. At about 5 p.m., New Jersey State Police troopers responded to a report of a personal watercraft stuck on a sandbar near Hawk Island in Delanco Township, according to Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron, a NJSP spokesman. The craft was dislodged from the sandbar and escorted to a marina, Lebron said. No injuries were reported. The incident remains under investigation, and no additional information is available, he said.

Authorities have released additional information in the double shooting Wednesday, June 12 in Carteret. Two females were found having suffered gunshot wounds on Roosevelt Avenue around 9 a.m., and were airlifted to area hospitals, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Carteret Police Chief Dennis McFadden said.
