Lightning Strike Ignites Paramus House Fire
A lightning strike ignited a fire in a Paramus home Friday morning. The blaze damaged the second floor of the two-story, wood-frame home on Bullard Avenue, off Forest Avenue, after it broke out at around 8:15 a.m. July 14. Firefighters had it doused in under a half hour. No injuries were reported. Paramus police and members of their Emergency Services Unit, along with Paramus Rescue Squad joined other borough firefighters at the scene, with colleagues from surrounding towns providing coverage. Paramus Police Nab Former HS Basketball Star-Turned-Repeat Offender Wanted In Multiple Towns
The criminal career of a former Paramus high school basketball star continued a violent trend when he fought with borough police who seized him on an out-of-town warrant, authorities said. Paramus House Fire Doused
Firefighters doused a nighttime attic blaze in Paramus. No injuries were reported in the two-alarmer, which ignited in a two-story, wood-frame home on Terhune Avenue, just off Midland Avenue, around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, June 24. Firefighters had it knocked down in under a half hour and under control minutes later. Mutual aid responders included firefighters from Maywood, Rochelle Park, River Edge, Washington Township, Oradell and Fair Lawn.

Ex-Con With History Stretching Nearly 40 Years Nabbed In Garfield Nail Salon Break-In
The phrase "known to police" is an understatement when it comes to Brian Patrick Barone. Barone, 57, of Garfield has a criminal history that dates all the way to 1986, when he was charged with DWI after ramming his car into a utility pole in Washington Township. A 71-year-old motorcyclist was in serious condition following a collision Monday morning in Emerson, authorities and responders said. Responding Emerson police officers swiftly applied a tourniquet to the Lyndhurst motorcyclist's right leg just about the ankle following the crash at the corner of Forest and Revere avenues outside Beth El Cedar Park Cemetery around 9 a.m. May 8. A married construction worker who lives in Cliffside Park was arrested by authorities who said he collected child porn. Valter M. Garcia Cordova, a 39-year-old Ecuadorian national, remained held in the Bergen County Jail on Thursday, April 27. A victim was in traumatic arrest after being ejected in a rollover evening rush-hour crash at the northern end of the Garden State Parkway, responders said. A convicted sex offender from Hackensack who works as a delivery driver was arrested after authorities said he returned to trafficking child porn. Jonah Llull, 27, served three years in state prison following convictions for forcing an underage teen into sex in 2013 and possessing child pornography in 2016, records show. 27-Year-Old Jeep Driver Killed, Passenger Extricated In NJ Crash
A 27-year-old Warren County Jeep driver was killed and his 33-year-old passenger extricated in a Union county crash Saturday, March 4, authorities said. The unidentified driver lost control of his Jeep Cherokee while heading south on North Broad Street near Hillside Avenue in Hillside just before 10 p.m., Hillside Chief Vincent Ricciardi said. The vehicle hit a guardrail and overturned in front of 16 Hillside Ave. The driver died and the passenger was taken to University Hospital in Newark in unknown condition. Woman Robbed At Gunpoint By Man Who Followed Her Home From NJ ATM: Police
A woman from South Jersey said a man followed her home from an ATM and robbed her at gunpoint, authorities said. Washington Township police released photos of a black Dodge Charger that the robbery suspect may have been driving. A 26-year-old victim said she finished work and stopped at the TD Bank in Glassboro to use the ATM before 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 14. Funeral arrangements have been finalized for retired Washington Township detective and mom of two Heather Castronova. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 19 at the Becker Funeral Home in Westwood. A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at the funeral home.
