Jersey City Gang Member Gets 19+ Years For Numerous Violent Crimes: Feds
A 35-year-old Jersey City resident and member of a gang was sentenced to 19.5 year in prison on Wednesday, Oct. 9 after previously pleading guilty to being involved in numerous violent crimes, authorities said.
Jervon Morris a.k.a. Sticky was in a gang that worked the Marion Gardens Housing Complex, distributing heroin and cocaine, U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger said. Members and associates of the gang also engaged in acts of violence, including numerous assaults, shootings, and murders, which targeted rival gang members and others, Sellinger said.

Three Philadelphia men were indicted after two women were shot in the head in Atlantic City, including one who died, authorities said.
A grand jury indicted 34-year-old Gregg Page for murder, attempted murder, and several weapons charges on Wednesday, Oct. 2, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said in a news release. Two Jersey City gang members were sentenced to lengthy prison terms on Wednesday, Aug. 21, for their role in two different shootings and other crimes, authorities said.
Jakeem Gibson-Madison, a.k.a. “Beanz,” 30; and Terick Rogers, a.k.a. “Moot,” 32, are members of a Jersey City gang associated with the Marion Gardens Housing Complex, US Attorney Phillip Sellinger said. Gibson-Madison was sentenced to 15 years in prison while Rogers was sentenced to 16 years in prison, Sellinger said.

Gunman, 67, Killed 24-Year-Old Victim In Weehawken, Prosecutor Says
Police have identified both the victim and suspect in a deadly Weehawken shooting this week.
Jhonnier Gamboa Acosta, 24, was believed to have been shot and killed by Juan Perez, 67, on Park Avenue between 37th and 41st streets around 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.
Acosta was taken to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 8:14 p.m. The Cause and Manner of Death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

Two people were arrested after a 31-year-old man was fatally shot in North Bergen on Monday, Aug. 5, authorities said.
At 9 a.m., North Bergen police responded to Meadowview Avenue and 61st Street and found Juan Ortiz, a North Bergen resident, with an apparent gunshot wound, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.
On Tuesday, Aug. 6, James Baker, a 24-year-old Secaucus resident and Arwa Elmhodli, a 21-year-old North Bergen resident were arrested and charged with murder, robbery and numerous weapons offenses, Suarez said.

A woman was fatally shot in Newark on Sunday, July 28, authorities said.
At 11:23 p.m., Newark police responded to 4th Avenue and North 12th Street where they found Brielle Alston, 31, suffering from a gunshot wound, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens, II and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Frage said.
Alston was transported to University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 1:20 a.m., Stephens and Frage said.

A man was shot several times in Jersey City on the early morning of Sunday, July 21, authorities said.
At 12:58 a.m., police responded to 260 Bright St. for a report of a man shot, Kimberly Wallace-Scalfione, a spokeswoman for the mayor's office, said. The victim, 31, was already transported to a nearby hospital, where he was in critical but stable condition with gunshot wounds to his right clavicle, left buttock, and groin region, Wallace-Scalfione said.
The investigation is ongoing, Wallace-Scalfione said.
