Lifelong North Jersey resident and beloved son, brother and friend Christopher Fecko died at Garnet Medical Hospital in Middletown, NY after he got into a motorcycle crash while celebrating his 23rd birthday on June 25. Born in Belleville, Fecko lived in Oak Ridge and graduated from Jefferson Township High School in 2016, where he won the Baseball State Championship during his senior year, his obituary says. Firefighters are quick to rescue those in need, but right now one of Park Ridge’s bravest could use some help. Park Ridge Firefighter Mark "Cookey" Eisen, 63, was recently placed on the National Kidney Registry after diabetes caused late-stage kidney failure. He’s scheduled to begin dialysis in 2021 but hopes to find him a kidney before then. A veteran of seven years with the U.S. Navy, Eisen has been a borough firefighter for nearly three decades. TRIBUTE: Gone much too soon at 17, an Oradell boy died a hero, donating his organs to save the lives of four people. Richard Rivera clung to life for a week after his SUV slammed into a tree in Haworth on Oct. 17, said his mother, Evelyn Dominguez. Firefighters extricated the teen from his 2002 Toyota 4Runner following the nighttime crash in front of the SUEZ water treatment plan on Lake Shore Drive. Father, Son Moving To Bergen County Together Die 6 Days Apart After Morris County Crash
A 28-year-old man died six days after his 69-year-old father of injuries sustained in a Roxbury car accident, authorities said. Vincent Borny had been fighting for his life at Morristown Medical Center following the crash that took his father Ken Borny's life Sept. 25, outside of Ledgewood Commons in Roxbury, his uncle Tom Borny said. Selfless is a word most used to described Fred Detoro of Flanders. The longtime firefighter became an organ donor when he died on June 15 at Saint Clare's Hospital. The community is rallying for Detoro's family -- having raised more than $530 for them on a GoFundMe as of Sunday morning. "He had a servants soul," campaign founder Danielle Seib wrote.
