Volunteer Responder In Bergen, Passaic Charged With Theft
A volunteer first responder in two counties was arrested on theft charges in Bergen, records show. Tyler M. Kotchkowski, 21, was charged last week with two counts of theft from the North Arlington Volunteer Emergency Squad, for which sources said he'd served as treasurer. An exact amount couldn't immediately be determined. Kotchkowski, a North Arlington native who moved to Clifton last summer, studied criminal justice at Bergen Community College, according to his LinkedIn profile. Backhoe Falls On Utility Worker In North Arlington
A PSE&G worker was hospitalized after a compact backhoe fell on him Wednesday at a North Arlington job site, authorities said. The driver tried to leap away when the machine apparently became unbalanced and began to tip over, Police Chief Scott M. Hedenberg said. But it knocked him down and a portion landed on the lower half of his body, the chief said. Fellow workers and a police officer who was at the scene lifted the machine together, freeing the victim, Hedenberg said. : North Arlington Police Officers Revive Lifeless Dog After Dousing Shed Fire
Two North Arlington police officers had just knocked down a raging shed fire when the owner carried out his motionless dog. Officers Nicholas Valakas and Mark Ballantyne had used a garden hose and fire extinguisher to douse the flames that engulfed the Arlington Boulevard structure. They then collected Darla from her owner and began chest compressions, assisted by firefighter Mark Cunningham.
