Multiple Systems Have Potential To Be Next Named Tropical Storm Of Hurricane Season
Three areas are being monitored for the potential to become the next named tropical storm of the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season, with one of them having a strong chance. In particular, an area in the southwest Caribbean has a high chance of development, according to an update Friday morning, Nov. 1 by the National Hurricane Center, rating the chance at 70 percent. It's expected to develop by the weekend with a depression possibly forming by early next week. Split Storms Combine: Brace For 4 Inches Of Rain This Weekend In NJ, PA, Forecasters Say
All of New Jersey and Greater Philadelphia are under a flood watch ahead of one big rain storm, or a combination of two different storms that will combine and head to the region this weekend. Between two and four inches of rain are expected to fall between late Friday night, March 22 and Saturday evening, March 23 before tapering off, according to the National Weather Service. NOAA: Endangered Whale Struck By 2 Vessels Off Jersey Shore
The right whale calf found floating off the Jersey Shore last week had evidence of at least two separate vessel collisions, federal authorities said. The carcass of the North Atlantic right whale, a critically endangered species, was spotted on Thursday by an aerial survey team from the Center for Coastal studies off the coast of Elberon (part of Long Branch), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said in a statement.
