School Crossing Guard Dies Protecting Students In South Jersey Crash, Police Say A Burlington City school crossing guard was killed while shielding two children from an oncoming car, authorities said. Bruce Morlack, 74, died in the crash on Friday, Dec. 6, the City of Burlington Police Department said in a news release. School Crossing Guard Hit At Crosswalk, Critically Injured In South Jersey Crash: Police A Burlington City school crossing guard was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle while on duty at a crosswalk, authorities said. Officers responded to the crash at the intersection of Jacksonville Road and James Street at around 7:20 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, the City of Burlington Police Department said in a news release.
