New Haven Line Riders Eager For Return To Normal Morning Commute On Monday

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. AND FAIRFIELD COUNTY, CONN. – Nearly two weeks' of frustration among Metro-North New Haven line commuters is scheduled to end Monday morning, Oct. 7.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) announced on Saturday, Oct. 6 that power had been fully restored to the New Haven Line.

“Regular New Haven line service will resume Monday morning, Oct. 7, following successful initial testing of a new electrical substation at Mount Vernon,” the MTA said in its statement.

The line has been hampered for more than a week following a Con Edison Sept. 25 cable failure that cut the electric power on the line. Approximately 125,000 ride on the line, which runs from New Haven, Conn., to Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan, every day.
