YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Yorktown High School has named its academic leaders for the graduating class of 2016.
Jillian Barry and James WoMa have been named valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively, according to a statement issued by the school district.
Barry, who plans to study pre-medicine and creative writing, said she enjoys studying medical ethics and health and social issues.
WoMa, a cross-country athlete who plans to play tennis in the spring, is an Eagle Scout with a talent for music. He plays the piano and is an accomplish violinist who plays with the high school and New York State School Music Association orchestras. He plans to study engineering, finance or computer science.
“Between the two of them, they have excelled in academics, orchestra, robotics, writing, science research, scouting and service to the community,” said Superintendent of Schools Ralph Napolitano. “We are very proud of them.”
