He is coming Thursday, Feb. 18, at 8:45 a.m. and 9:40 a.m.

Along with Meteorologist Ron Trotta and children’s book author Elly McGuire, this four pound furry STEM Star from New York City will be bringing her science and weather assembly to Benjamin Franklin School in Yorktown Heights.

Using literacy and music, Team Schmitty The Weather Dog inspires students, especially girls, to get excited about studying STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) subjects.

The assembly opens with Author Elly reading her book, “Schmitty The Weather Dog: Daydream” to the students.

Then the real live Schmitty The Weather Dog appears with Meteorologist Ron for an interactive weather lesson that ends with a rousing Schmitty The Weather Dog weather sing-along.

Author Elly brings the assembly to a close encouraging respect for animals and teaching them how to greet a dog.

Each student receives a parting sniff from Schmitty The Weather Dog as they leave the assembly.

Schmitty The Weather Dog is a philanthropic pup. After 9/11, Schmitty became the inspiration and model for New Yorkie Greetingss, a line of greeting cards created to raise money for the Uniformed Firefighters Association Scholarship Fund, a fund for fallen firefighters and their families.
