YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- The Yorktown Funeral Home will be among the honorees at the Lakeland Education Foundation's annual Casino Night, Silent Auction and Dinner Dance at Mahopac's Villa Barone, on Saturday, March 11.

The funeral home is one of the LEF's community partners.

"We at Yorktown Funeral Home feel honored to be recognized by the Lakeland Educational Foundation for our support of your programs," Eric DiBartolo and Anthony Guarino said in a news release.

"This opportunity to serve youth with so worthwhile a focus on educationĀ gives us great joy and satisfaction. May your efforts continue to yield the kind of success they so justly deserve."

The LEF, created in 1994, has raised and donated nearly $1 million to benefit the Lakeland Central School District's students.

"The Lakeland Education Foundation seeks to provide opportunities for the students and staff of Lakeland to expand learning opportunities, to maximize the potential of each student, and to augment the fine work that is already underway in the Lakeland schools," organizers noted.

LEF President Diane Kness added, "The Lakeland Education Foundation has been working hard for the past 22 years to enhance the educational experience for all Lakeland students."

This year's honorees also include the social workers of the school district:

  • Patricia Camia-Cass, George Washington Elementary School.

  • Lynn Uchetel, Walter Panas High School.
  • Michael Weitman, Walter Panas High School.

"We are grateful and excited to receive this incredible honor from the Lakeland Education Foundation," the group said in the news release.

"The statement 'It takes a village' could not be truer. Due to the support and generosity of the LEF we have been able to further enhance the educational and social-emotional success of the students that we serve. We look forward to our continued collaboration with the Lakeland Education Foundation."
