YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- Yorktown police have arrested a 27-year-old Peekskill resident on a charge of driving with a suspended license.

A patrol officer observed a purple Mini Cooper travel through a steady red light Wednesday at the intersection of Route 6 and Sunnyside Street, according to police.

The vehicle was stopped, and the operator was identified as Macavery N. Berger, officials report.

An investigation at the scene revealed that Berger’s New York state driver’s license was suspended, according to police. Further investigation also revealed that the vehicle was uninspected, police report.

Berger was arrested at the scene, and transported to police headquarters, according to officials.

He was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicenced operation, an unclassified misdemeanor, as well as red light violation and uninspected motor vehicle, both traffic violations, police report.

Following processing, Berger was issued a traffic summons in reference to the charges, then released on $100 bail, officials report.

He is scheduled to answer the charges against him in Yorktown Town Court on Tuesday, Jan. 12, according to police.
