WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. -- A 41-year-old man accused of posing as a teenager while sending sexually explicit messages to a 14-year-old girl has been arrested, according to New York state police.

Jason M. Naylor, of Lockport, N.Y., is accused of trying to lure the 14-year-old into a face-to-face meeting. He's been charged with first-degree disseminating indecent material to minors, a felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, according to police.

Troopers first began investigating the case in July, when the girl's parents reported inappropriate messages found on her "KIK" cell phone application, state police said. After investigating, authorities found that the messages had been sent by Naylor, who had told the girl that he was a teenager, police said. Naylor had messaged the girl and attempted to get her to meet with him, according to investigators.

Naylor was arrested Wednesday, Jan. 27, at his Lockport home and later arraigned in Wappingers Falls Village Court, authorities said. He was then taken to the Dutchess County jail, where he was held on $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.

Lockport is a city of about 22,000 people living about 20 miles east of Niagara Falls, N.Y.
