A man and a teenager are facing charges after attacking two people, including an elderly woman, in front of a child in Northern Westchester, police said.
On Friday, Dec. 23, around noon, police responded to a reported assault at a residence in Yorktown, and found that the suspects had already left the scene when they arrived, according to Yorktown Police.
After talking with the victims, police found out that the man and teen had worked together to punch, kick, and choke one man and had also shoved a 74-year-old woman to the ground, causing her to be injured. Both assaults happened in front of a seven-year-old child, police added.
One victim of the assault was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
On Tuesday, Dec. 27, both suspects, who live at the same address and were identified by one of the victims, turned themselves in to Yorktown Police. They are identified as:
- Scott Baia, age 32, of Yorktown, who is charged with second-degree assault, third-degree assault, and endangering the welfare of a child;
- Dylan Delaney, age 19, who is charged with second-degree assault, third-degree assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and criminal obstruction of breathing.
Both suspects were arraigned in Yorktown Justice Court and were ordered to stay away from the victims by a judge. They are currently held in Westchester County Jail and will again appear in court on Tuesday, Jan. 3.
