A Putnam County man had to by “physically subdued” as he allegedly tried to interfere with first responders attempting to save the life of a person who was found unconscious in the Jefferson Valley Mall in Westchester.

Members of the Yorktown Police Department, Lake Mohegan Fire Department and Mohegan Volunteer Ambulance Corps. were dispatched to Macy’s at the mall in Yorktown Heights, where there was a report of the unconscious person.

Police said that while paramedics were at the scene treating the victim, Mahopac resident Michael Mallon, 28, allegedly began interfering with the first responders while they were performing life-saving procedures on the victim. Officers went on to attempt to apprehend Mallon, at which point, officials say he began “struggling with the officers and had to be physically subdued.”

Mallon was eventually taken into custody and transported to Yorktown Police Headquarters, where he was charged with misdemeanor counts of obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest. He was released on $500 bail following his arraignment, and is due back in Yorktown Justice Court on Aug. 28 to answer the charges.
