Strong, Gusty Winds Cause Scattered Power Outages In Westchester County

Wind gusts that topped 50 mph left some Westchester residents in the dark on Friday morning.

As of 10:20 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 17, 18 of Con Edison’s 348,198 residents were still reporting outages, including residents in Cortlandt, New Castle, New Rochelle, North Castle, Port Chester, and Yonkers.

Complete restoration is expected no later than 3 p.m. on Friday.

No NYSEG customers were reporting outages in Westchester, though there was approximately 1,000 customers in the entire Hudson Valley without power.

Utility crews scrambled overnight to repair hundreds of other reported outages. Winds are still expected to be whipping during the day on Friday, with wind gusts approaching 20 mph with temperatures in the low 20s.
