Trump Fires 6 National Security Council Members After Meeting With Conspiracy Theorist: Reports

President Trump fired at least six staffers on the National Security Council following a meeting with a conspiracy theorist who claimed that they were "disloyal" to him, according to multiple reports.

The firings on Thursday morning, April 3 came a day after the far-right activist, Laura Loomer, visited the Oval Office, and stated she was furious that the so-called "neocons," a term to describe so-called "war hawks," were hired in the first place, according to Axios.

Other members of the NSC are expected to be fired as well, The New York Times reported, citing a US official with direct knowledge of the matter.

It is unclear if National Security Advisor Michael Waltz, who runs the NSC, may be in danger of losing his job.

For now at least, neither Waltz nor deputy national security adviser Alex Wong have been fired, the official told The Times, which first reported the story.

Waltz is already in hot water for accidentally adding a journalist to a chat on a commercial app prior to a military strike against Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen in mid-March.

Loomer, known for claiming 9/11 was an inside job, is considered extreme even by some of Trump’s far-right supporters. She traveled with Trump to attend ceremonies at the Sept. 11 memorial in New York City last year.
