YONKERS, N.Y. -- Democratic incumbent Mayor Mike Spano and his Republican challenger Bill Nuckel had their first debate on Tuesday.
Nuckel is a former councilman who became an executive at Verizon. He claimed that Mayor Spano does not deserve a second term in office because of mismanagement, said News 12.
Spano pointed out that GE is considering Yonkers as its world headquarters and that developers have spent approximately $1 billion into Yonkers during Spano's term, according to the news station.
They also debated the direction of a change in crime rate, with both men citing very different figures, reported New 12.
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
