Human Rights Commissioners Needed In Yonkers

YONKERS N.Y. — Yonkers Third City Council District member Michael Sabatino is looking for resumes and letters of interest from residents who would like to become human rights commissioners for the city.

The Commission on Human Rights was formed in 1963 to advocate for and educate the residents of Yonkers about housing, employment and general discrimination issues. 

The commission is looking for people who have some level of expertise in housing, education and employment. Sabatino wants the commission to continue to be effective in its work to reduce and eliminate discrimination. 

Commissioners are not salaried and serve a term of three years.

Any Yonkers resident at least 18 years old who is interested in becoming a member of the Commission on Human Rights should send a resume and cover letter to Council Member Michael Sabatino, City Hall, Room 414, Yonkers, NY 10701; or via email to Michael.sabatino@yonkersny.gov. Applicants should indicate whether they are interested in a commission position or a committee position. Questions can be directed to Sabatino’s office at (914) 377-6313.
